Hello, my name is Marbella Ceballos and I have lived in Lindsay my whole life and I have pride in who I am. I’m a unique young lady at the age of 17 with flaws of my own. I believe I'm easy outgoing, caring, and different in many ways. Family is everything to me. I have 3 brothers. One older than me and two younger. I love to see others around me happy, I can not stand seeing people I care about or others down. You can always count on me to put a smile on someone's face, to be a crying shoulder or to just sit and listen. Growing up in Lindsay has always been hectic by the way things are around here. No matter what you hear or see around this town, you will always see a warm, friendly person down the street. The corrupted blocks, have given me a very strong backbone, but also a warm spirit. Even though this town may not be so perfect as others want it to be, I am proud to say I am from here and to say I attend Lindsay High School.
I come from a family of six including myself. My parents have lived a rough life. To start off with my dad who came from out of the United States when he only thirteen years old. He attended school up to eighth grade but had to leave to work. Today he continues to work as a harvester. My mother was able to continue school up until the ninth grade but also had to leave that to start making money and help maintain and help out her family. Throughout her life she worked cleaning houses, and as a harvester like my dad. She did go back to adult school to get her GED, now she is a cosmetologist. As for parents who did not get far in education neither did my older brother. He struggled throughout high school and unfortunately had to leave to JJ Cairns his sophomore year. He never really liked school, my parents had a rough time with him because he would ditch school. Now he is doing so much better and works as a barber.
Knowing I will be the first one to attend a university makes me have an open mind about furthering my education. This motivates me to get to a further point in my life. When I look back and think of when my parents struggled with my brother, I push myself in the work I am doing. I push myself to do level fours and extra work because I know it will be worth it in the end. At times it gets overwhelming but looking back at my past three years of high school and thinking about how much I have already accomplished helps me know I could do it and to keep striving. I know one day I will make my parents proud of my accomplishments, every day I go to school with my mind set to do big things. When the road gets bumpy I know not to give up because doing nothing will not get me to where I want to be.
